Proving your days

If a tax office asks where you were, it will also ask how you know. These are the records that usually help, and where RezTally's day log fits.

What tax offices look for

Records made at the time count for more than ones put together later. Typical evidence includes boarding passes and tickets, passport entries, card and bank statements showing where you spent money, hotel and rental bookings, phone records, photos with their dates and places, and diaries or calendars kept as you went.

How the sealed day log helps

What it can't prove

A check proves that the day log hasn't been changed since it was written. It can't prove that what was written was true: a phone carried by someone else, a faked location or a day typed in wrongly would be sealed just the same. That's why the log keeps how each day was recorded, and why your boarding passes and receipts still matter.

Days are only part of a residence question. If you've left the UK for Dubai, the Clean Break Review on dubai-info.co.uk has a UK Chartered Tax Adviser check your ties and residence and put it in writing. It's from the same company as RezTally.
